QUINCY (WGEM) — A local college is giving students with intellectual and developmental disabilities the opportunity to learn and grow on campus.
John Wood Community College is doing just that with their college for life program, and enrollment is now open.
Students will take classes on a variety subjects over three years, while learning things like workplace, financial, and communication skills.
The program’s coordinator says people with disabilities don’t always get the same opportunities after high school, which is why this program is important to her.
“It’s really nice to be able to give this opportunity for students to continue learning and be able to really create the life that they want.,” said Michele Westmaas.
Anyone interested in the program must be 18 or older and can apply here.
College for life classes begin on Tuesday, August 17th.
