The Town is going to make improvements to the Riverdale Park Accessible Trail that runs along the Boyne River in Alliston.
Crews have begun prepping the site by adding an off and fencing to the area to facilitate construction of the project.
The scope of work for this project includes a construction of a multi-use asphalt trail along the river. The trail will be approximately 350 metres long and 2.5 metres wide.
The contractor for the project is Forest Ridge Inc. They are expected to start work shortly after the prep date with the project to be substantially completed by the end of October 2021.
In addition to the trail, the project also includes the installation of benches, garbage receptacles, trail lighting fixtures, and a retaining wall.
There was also be construction to improved drainage along the trail and additional signage placed along the route.
The trail will run west of the Boyne River pedestrian walkway bridge to connect to the staircase near the swimming pool in Riverdale Park.
It should be noted that access to the existing dirt pathway from the Boyne River pedestrian walkway bridge will be closed for the duration of construction and the area will be fenced.
Residents are request to access Riverdale Park and the pool using the sidewalk on the north side of Fletcher Crescent.
Any driveway disruptions to nearby residents will be minimized and coordinated by the contractor.
